75 GSM vs 100 GSM Weed Mat – Which Should You Choose?
When buying weed mat, one of the first specifications you will come across is GSM.
At WeedMat Pro, we currently offer both 75 GSM and 100 GSM weed mats, giving customers options depending on their requirements and budget.
What Is GSM?
GSM means grams per square metre.
It gives an indication of the weight of the material used per square metre.
A 100 GSM weed mat contains more material per square metre than a 75 GSM weed mat.
However, choosing between them should not be based on GSM alone.
Our 75 GSM Weed Mat
Our 75 GSM weed mat is available in:
Width: 2 metres
Price: ₹20/m²
It provides a more economical option for customers who are looking for weed-control material while keeping the overall material cost lower.
Our 100 GSM Options
We offer several 100 GSM options:
100 GSM Circular Weave – ₹25/m²
Width: 2.1 m
100 GSM Sulzer Black – ₹30/m²
Widths: 1.15, 2, 3, 4.2 and 5.25 m
100 GSM Sulzer Green – ₹35/m²
Width: 2 m
Which One Is Better?
There is no single answer that applies to every application.
The right choice depends on:
- Where you are installing the mat
- How the area will be used
- Expected physical wear
- Installation method
- Your budget
- Required roll width
A customer covering a large area may place more importance on cost per square metre, while another customer may prioritise a particular product construction or width.
Don’t Choose Based on GSM Alone
GSM is important, but it isn’t the complete story.
For example, our 100 GSM Circular and 100 GSM Sulzer products have the same nominal GSM but are different products.
This is why we recommend looking at the complete specification rather than simply choosing the highest GSM.
Need Help Choosing?
If you send us your area dimensions and explain how you intend to use the weed mat, we can help you compare the available options.
You can also use our Weed Mat Planner to determine how different roll widths can cover your area.
The goal isn’t simply to buy more material.
The goal is to buy the right material for your application.
